Sharon Miller's Team RMHC Chicago Marathon Fundraising Page
On October 8th, I will be representing Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of Team RMHC, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to help keep families close. This will be my second time participating in the Chicago Marathon raising money for a charity so close to my families hearts.
Since 1974, RMHC has been making children happier and healthier by keeping families together – giving them a place to rest and refresh. A place that feels like home. RMHC was there to support my family during a very difficult time in our lives. Our youngest daughter (Sarah - now 10) was diagnosed with a condition called portal vein thrombosis (PVT). Due to the rare nature of her condition, we traveled to Chicago in 2014 for her surgery and recovery. RMHC welcomed us with open arms and made us feel at home. It was such a humbling experience and a time of learning, gratitude and appreciation. We are a very fortunate family as Sarah has recovered well from her surgery and is thriving. I wanted to find a way to give back which led me to run my 1st Chicago Marathon in 2015.
You too can join RMHC's network of HOPE, STRENGTH and SUPPORT, by supporting my efforts to raise $1000 - $25 can provide dinner for a family, $80 can give a family a room for a night. Your donation, of any amount, will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help children stay close to their families when they need it most!
