Team Cash #LOVEHARD
On October 7th, I will be representing Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the 2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of Team RMHC, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to help keep families together.
Why am I doing this? My brother's son, Cash, died unexpectedly on September 25, 2017, at the age of two. His passing left our family devistated and looking for ways to remember and memorialize him. I wasn't planning on running the marathon this year until my brother told me he was planning on running in honor of Cash and asked whether or not I was running. Within a matter of an hour we were signed up and formed Team Cash #LOVEHARD.
Why did we choose RMHC? Cash was born prematurely and after several complcations, he spent a month-in-a-half in the NICU at Luries. During that time, my brother and sister-in-law Jen leaned on the support of RMHC in order to be at his side through his stay. In retrospect, that allowed them more precious time with Cash that we now know was at a premium.
John was THE person who inspired me to run the marathon my first marathon and we ran Chicago in 2001 together. I'd like to give back to him at least part of what he has given to me. Please consider helping me join my brother running the 2018 Chicago Marathon for Cash.
