Oops I did it again!...and again...and again...
2019 will be my fourth consecutive year running the Chicago Marathon, and my fourth with the RMHC!
My first marathon in 2016 was solely for me-it was a dream that I had for many years and finally thought that I could accomplish. I over trained, got over confident, and barely crossed that finish line. As I was walking back to the RMHC tent and saw my husband, I immediately burst into tears and said ‘I’m never doing this again! It was so much harder than I thought!’
2017 was a year of redemption. Again I was running for myself, but I had a bigger purpose this time around. I learned so much more about the wonderful charity I had chosen to fundraise for-volunteering at one of the houses to cook dinner, watching the families come together for a meal after a hard day in the hospital-everyone there for a different reason, but enjoying a warm meal they didn’t have to cook. What a rewarding experience! Also, our small team of 6, TEAM FNRC met our goal of $10,000! I crossed that finish line and met my time goal, but it came with an injury I would have to overcome over the next 4 months.
2018 was a last minute decision, signing up a mere 10 days before the big day. I wouldn’t have changed a thing, though. Knowing that my minimum fundraising amount was going to such a wonderful cause was reason enough to fight my way through those 26.2 miles. And, I did it next to a great friend!
So here I am again, looking forward to fundraising with an amazing team of 26 people, TEAM FNRC, for the most wonderful cause out there! If all goes well, we will bring in over $40,000 for the RMHC! Please help us reach this goal, as there are so many families out there that need it more than we could ever imagine.
Do it for me, or do it for RMHC!
Did you know $25 can provide dinner for a family and $80 can give a family a room for a night? Your donation, of any amount, will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help children stay close to their families when they need it most!
