Welcome to Vicky's Personal Page
I am running in the memory of our Team Captain's son, Liam. Lynda Radman started Liam's Ladies and Gents in 2017, but has been running in the Chicago Marathon for Team RMHC for several years. In 2006, Liam was diagnosed with a tumor in his brain stem. Liam was hospitalized at the University of Chicago's Comer's Children's Hospital for 3 months while undergoing a number of procedures which included Neurosurgery. During those 3 months, Lynda and her daughter Samantha (then 4) lived at the Ronald McDonald house on the hospital campus. They never returned home during the entire three months. The house provided food, transportation to the grocery store, a private bedroom and some peace away from the hospital. It also offered emotional support from the volunteers and from other families going thru similar situations. Unfortunately, Liam lost his battle in 2008 at the age of 3.
Last year I was a part of the team, preparing to run my first marathon after undergoing bariatric surgery and losing 130 pounds, when I was sidelined with what was diagnosed as a labral tear in my hip. After having surgery in November, I am back, ready to conquer this quest of completing the Chicago Marathon on behalf of Liam’s Ladies and Gents. 2020 is my year!
On October 11th, I will be representing Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of Team RMHC, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to help keep families together.
Did you know $25 can provide dinner for a family and $80 can give a family a room for a night? Your donation, of any amount, will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help children stay close to their families when they need it most!
