Chyristina's Story
Families Stay Together
In the summer of 1999, my 8 year old daughter, Dannala, collapsed in the bathroom and was unresponsive. She was air lifted to an area trauma center and diagnosed with a genetic brain abnormality and an aneurysm. To save her life, she had brain surgery the next day. I cannot tell you how difficult this time was for my family and I. I had 2 young, children at the time, and I didn't live close to the hospital Dannala was receiving care. What was I going to do?
Thankfully, Ronald McDonald House Charities was there to help when I needed it most. With their gracious support, my family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House during Dannala's surgery and throughout the 2 month recuperation and rehabilitation period afterward. Their assistance was invaluable. Because of the aid I received at that time, I am passionate about their mission to keep families together.
Faced with a child’s illness, families enter a world of fear and worry. Living expenses can quickly add up. Long drives, worried siblings, and sleeping in cars are extra burdens no family should have to experience. RMHC works to keep families with sick children near the medical care and resources they need. Families can stay together.
