Lauren Sawatski
On October 13th, I will be representing Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of Team RMHC, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to help keep families together.
This will be my 7th Chicago Marathon running for RMHC. I will be running In Memory of my cousin Tristan. Tristan unexpectedly passed February 1st, 2024 at the age of 14. He was born with a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome that was diagnosed in utero. This heart condition requires 3 open heart surgeries to treat. His parents, Ryan and Jessica along with big brother, Caleb stayed at the Ronald McDonald House during Tristan's surgeries.
In 2014 I ran my first marathon. Tristan was my why for choosing to run for RMHC. I ran the last 6 marathons in Honor of him. This year I will be running In Memory. While my heart is aching with grief I will push my mind and body.
Tristan is SO loved and SO missed. I'm so grateful to get to call him my cousin. He made all of us better people.
Did you know RMHC helps millions of families each year? RMHC helps families cope better and focus on the needs of their sick child, allowing them the ability to spend more time with their child, to interact with their doctors, and to make important decisions about their child’s care.
It costs approximately $100 to give a family one night of comfort and support. Your donation, of any amount, will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help children stay close to their families when they need it most!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read this. Please keep Ryan, Jessica, and Caleb in your prayers. Along with all our family and friends that love him so much.
