Welcome!
On October 13th, I will be representing and fundraising for my employer, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the 2024 Chicago Marathon.
The RMHC mission is one that is near and dear to me and my family, not just because of my employment status. Three years ago, Teddy Shaw arrived 2 months early and spent his first 46 days in the NICU. While there was no Ronald McDonald Family Room at Prentice Hospital back then (they added one in 2022!), Allie and I were so fortunate to have wonderful support from from family and friends during Teddy's hospital stay. We also count our blessings because we lived close enough to the hospital to be able to commute back and forth and bring our breakfast and lunches each day to be with Teddy in the hospital. Sadly, we know so many families aren't as lucky and that is where RMHC steps in.
As background, RMHC alleviates financial burdens for families along their child's healthcare journey. The organization will literally host the parents and families of sick kids and provide lodging, meals, laundry services and transportation to the hospital for no cost -- all so they can focus on being there for their child, when they need it most. Last year, globally, my colleagues at Chapters around the world provided families with more than 2.7 million overnight stays and helped families save $736 million in lodging and meal expenses. But, that doesn't even nearly cover the amount of families still needing support.
Three years later, we're so grateful Teddy is a happy and healthy three year old. I also couldn't be more proud to now, professionally, play a part in giving back to families going through a stressful time.
I am asking for your support to help me reach my fundraising goal and more importantly, help all of those children and families stay close together.
- $25 could provide dinner for a family
- $50 could provide bedding for a new sleeping room
-$100 could provide one night's stay at a Ronald McDonald House
No gift is too small. Your donation, of any amount, will make a difference to those going through a tremendously difficult time. Thank you!
