Rachael's Ronald McDonald House Charities Fundraising Page!
Since I was eleven years old, I have found running and racing to be a source of stress relief, personal passion, and fun. Over the course of the pandemic, when so many of us felt helpless in the context of such unpredictable circumstances, I began to consider how I could extend the scope of my lifelong love for running to help others, and set a goal to race a major marathon for charity.
As an almost-psychologist (PhD pending August 2022!) specializing in the care of patients and families coping with serious illness and end-of-life, the mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) particularly resonates with me. RMHC helps alleviate some financial burdens for families of sick, hospitalized children by providing assistance with necessary expenses like lodging and meals. RMHC helps families cope better and focus on the needs of their sick child, allowing them more time to spend with their child, to interact with their doctors, and to make important decisions about their child’s care.
On October 9th, I will be representing Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) to run my 6th marathon, the 2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of Team RMHC, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to help keep families together during times of stress.
It costs approximately $100 to give a family one night of comfort and support. Your donation, of any amount, will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help children receive the support of their families when they need it most!
