Welcome to my RMHC Story
On October 9th, I will be representing Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the 2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of Team RMHC, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to help keep families together.
RMHC helps families cope better and focus on the needs of their sick child, allowing them the ability to spend more time with their child, to interact with their doctors, and to make important decisions about their child’s care.
RMHC holds a very special place in my heart. I was first introduced to the mission in 2010 as a sister of Alpha Delta Pi. We regularly cooked meals and interacted with families during dinner. After graduation, I continued my love for serving families by coordinating volunteer opportunities for my co-workers to get involved in the mission. It was always such a joy to see others fall in love with the mission, too!
Flash forward to 2019, I moved to Birmingham, AL and was looking for ways to build a community in a new city. I turned to the Ronald McDonald House and sought out ways to get involved and in a way, it seems as though the stars aligned. I joined the House as a full time team member!
What I have found in the Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home and a sense of purpose. To come to work every day knowing that my hard work is in turn supporting the families we serve is the greatest blessing, and incredibly fulfilling.
The best part is our families find a home-away-from-home, too! They are surrounded with other families facing similar obstacles and they are able to create their own communities here at the House. Many families are away from all of their loved ones during a time of crisis but the Ronald McDonald House is able to provide them with warmth, love, and kindness - a light in a dark time - and keep them within a 2 minute walk from their child. It is more than a place to rest at night, it is a HOME!
Thank you so much for helping me reach my goal! Your donation, of any amount, will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help keep our services free of charge for families.
