Welcome to Shannon's Fundraising page
Thank you for visiting my page. First is what I am participating and in and further is a personal story of why I am here.
On October 13th, I will be representing Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of Team RMHC, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to help keep families together.
Did you know RMHC helps millions of families each year? RMHC helps families cope better and focus on the needs of their sick child, allowing them the ability to spend more time with their child, to interact with their doctors, and to make important decisions about their child’s care.
It costs approximately $100 to give a family one night of comfort and support. Your donation, of any amount, will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help children stay close to their families when they need it most!
I have chosen this charity as it is close and dear to my heart. As some may now my son Hudson was born at 27 weeks. We spent four months in the NICU at Childrens Mercy Hospital. We lived to close to get a room in the Ronald McDonald house but I was lucky enough to still receive love from this group. Whether it was from going to the Ronald Mcdonald room in the hospital where sometimes volunteers would make a home cooked meal, or sleep in one of the rooms and was able to shower all without leaving the hospital and being to far from hudson. We received a second run in when Hudson had his SDR surgery at St. Lous Children's. We had reserved a room to stay at the Ronald Mcdonald House, but Hudson was in to much pain to get in and out of the car. Again, their room at the hospital gave us a room to feel relaxed and loved.
Please help me reach my goal to help other families that need a place to stay or a good home cooked meal to help them through their hard times when they have to be away from home to be with their children.
