Colin's Run
Colin John was born August 10, 2006 over 3 months premature and weighing barely one pound. Sadly, Colin passed 18 days later at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s hospital. Colin’s family was by his side when he passed, due largely to the availability of free Ronald McDonald House rooms located literally down the hall from Colin’s NICU bed.
Throughout Colin’s brave 18 day fight, his family came to know the struggles and stresses of families with hospitalized Children. Ronald McDonald House Charities offers an opportunity to be close to their child, a warm meal, and some small sense of comfort during a surreal and stressful time. In the time since, we have met more and more people who have had similar situations and many who benefited from RMHC services.
Team Colin’s Run was formed in 2006 to honor Colin and his bravery by raising funds for charities related to children’s causes, prematurity, and the Comer Children’s Hospital. RMHC holds a very special place in our hearts and in the hearts of so many others who have benefited from the services. On October 8th, we will again be representing Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a members of Team RMHC, we will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to help keep families together.
Did you know $25 can provide dinner for a family and $100 can give a family a room for a night? Your donation, of any amount, will not only help us honor Colin and achieve our goal, but will help children and families stay together when they need it most!
